Using shutters on a Profile Spotlight
The shutter blades supplied with most profile units are used to cut off unwanted light, this may be the requirement when lighting a stage and you require to highlight a door or window.
Remember when setting up the lights that the spotlight will invert the effect of the blade. i.e. the left blade (looking from the back of the lantern) will cut off light to the right of the stage and top blade the bottom.
On our Minuette range it is important that the blades be inserted correctly to give maximum adjustment see Fig 1.
The
corner A should be inserted between the semi-circular notches in the shutter
blade slot. Push blade in until notch B engages in the extreme edge of slot.
This will now allow corner C to be fully rotated into the housing.
Repeat in rotation until all shutter blades are securely home. The situation shown in Fig 2 should now be achievable.

The larger units in our range i.e. Freedom & Silhouette also use shutter blades, the blades in these units are designed such that the blade can be reversed to enable greater angles to be achieved.
The shutter pack on the latter Silhouettes allows some rotation but on the Freedom range the shutter pack rotates with the tube giving a full 360 deg rotation.
Remember that to give a precise edge the lantern will require refocusing once the blades are present in the beam.
